Lines from Lisa Fricke

Students and Family fill my days...

Mrs. Lisa Fricke

November 13, 2008

My six years at Lexington Middle School have flown by so fast.  Eighth graders are continuing to improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.  Students are building new vocabulary as they work through their assignments and research.  Every year we try to instill good character skills and a sense of Patriotism to help students become productive citizens in society.  My father served our country for  30 years, and he strongly believed we should have good character skills, strong patriotism, and also participate in community service.  His beliefs have colored my life with hope for a positive future for all of us.

Right now students are diligently working on their Patriot's Pen and DAR essays.  They are finding ways to honor the soldiers who have sacrificed so much for our great nation.

After Christmas students will take the Statewide Writing assessment.  This is an important test that will give the State Department of Education and our school district an indication of how our students are progressing in creative writing.

I enjoy following my own children's lives too.  My youngest, Ryan, is attending Concordia University in Seward.  He plays football and he has decided to become a math teacher...Yea!  My daughter Erica and her husband Stephen have moved from Colorado Springs to Omaha.  It's so comforting to have them closer to us and also knowing that the National Guard and Army do not have plans to deploy them.  Erica is currently working with autistic children at UNMC during the day and working at Boys town at night.  Besides his Army duties, Stephen is taking classes at UNO to become a psychiatrist.  Our oldest son, Jason, has moved to Fremont to manage that Region's Boy Scout Troops.  My husband, David, is enjoying substituting at Lexington Public Schools.

Teachers, parents, and community members can work together to provide additional educational opportunities for our students.  If you have any questions or want to share ideas, please call me before or after school (324-2349), and I will be happy to assist you.
