LMS OWIE Awards
April 03, 2009
The Lexington Middle School has been awarding "OWIE's" for about 8 years. What's an OWIE? The acronym stands for "Outstanding Work in Education." Teachers, counselors, cooks, paras, secretaries, custodians and even an occasional principal have been awarded an "OWIE." It is given to a person who has done something above and beyond what is expected from a school employee and has made a difference in the lives of our students. Nominations are made to the principal by other staff members.
This month an "OWIE" has been awarded to Bev Gustafson , our Librarian who is an invaluable part of our school. This month Bev organized the very successful LMS Reading Banquet. While Mrs. Gustafson would be the first to tell everyone that the many faculty members and students who were involved deserve all the credit , she is the 'glue' that holds this event together. Additionally, Mrs. Gustafson was a co-chair of our school improvement process committee and is hosting a LMS Book Fair. We are thankful to have Bev in our school and salute her with an "OWIE" for April 2009.
