8th Grade Basketball vs. Ogallala & Cozad

The Minutemen Fall Short In Their Game Openers

by Chris Prososki

January 27, 2010

The 8th Grade Minutemen had their season opener last night against both the Ogallala Indians and the Cozad Haymakers.  The Minutemen sent half of their squad to Ogallala and the other half to Cozad.  The Minutemen were happy to finally play in their first official game.   Enthusiasm was high on the two bus rides over and carried into the games.

The squad that made the trip to Ogallala started the first game with a lot of fire.  They did a good job of hustling.  The first game was a back and forth battle, but in the end, the Indians pulled away for the victory.  The next two games went differently.  The next two teams were ready to avenge the loss.  Both teams pulled away from the Indians and walked away with two victories.

The teams that made the trip to Cozad were ready to play their first basketball games.  The first game started out close, but the Haymakers pulled away with the win.  The Minutemen went on to lose the next two games.  Both games were hard fought battles on both sides. The coaching staff was pleased with the players’ effort. The Minutemen are looking forward to their first home game of the season.  It will take place on January 28th, against Kearney Sunrise at 4PM.
