A couple of LMS zombies get ready to scare.

October 24, 2008
The Lexington Middle School, for the second year in a row, hosted a community Haunted House on October 24th and 25th. Project director Ryan Waters coordinated dozens of LMS students and staff in the design, creation and running of this spooktacular event.
Mr. Water’s activity class initiated the design process and helped to organize other students in the creative process. The after-school program, Multiple Choices, joined in the fun as part of the “build team.” LMS students who participate in Multiple Choices had the option of selecting the Haunted House project after their class work was completed. Many of the props used in the staging came from last year’s Haunted House sponsored by the Multiple Choice program. This year’s creators took scary to a whole new level by making their own masks from plaster casts of their faces. They created foam body parts and built imaginative new stage props. Erie moans were combined with projected images and well timed screams and cackles to create an experience that delighted several hundred Lexington students and their parents. Many couldn’t wait to jump in line and wander through the terror a second time.
In addition, the Independence INK. and Alternative Education programs provided some muscle in the construction of the set that was positioned on the LMS auditorium stage. Both programs helped to create some horrific final touches.
Once terrified guests stumbled out of the haunted house, they were greeted by a concession stand featuring treats like: mummy dogs (pigs in a blanket: Halloween style), rice crispy treats and puppy chow zombie hands.
A special thanks also goes to the Nuestro Furturo Leadership group from the Lexington High School. These outstanding future leaders helped to guide guests through the haunted house and made the event scary, fun and well run!
